November 27, 1725 Johann Jacob Brunner and Maria Barbara Sturm were married.

Well, haven't done a great job of keeping up with the blog, but here's a new entry...

Exactly 283 years ago today there was a wedding in Germany of a couple of our ancestors, Johann Jacob Bruner (Brunner) and Maria Barbara Sturm.  They later immigrated to the US and settled in Maryland.  Their father's farmhouse (which they must have helped build) is now a famous architectural museum where people come from near and far to learn about the German influence on America!  Here's the link to it:  http://www.frederickcountylandmarksfoundation.org/fclf_schiffgen.html

I have a good amount of historical information on Johann Jacob Bruner posted here already, so I won't add more now.  Besides, I have to get to the gym to work out to make up for all the calories I'm going to eat at Thanksgiving Dinner this afternoon.  Speaking of Thanksgiving, it's interesting to think that as much of a tradition as Thanksgiving is for us, with origins going back to the Pilgrims, our relatives (the Bruners of this post) didn't celebrate it, because it became a holiday after they had already passed on.  It was not until the civil war when Abraham Lincoln made it a national holiday that Thanksgiving was celebrated annually (just checked my facts on history.com, so you can believe it!).  Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Hopefully I'll do a better job of keeping up in the future.  If not... talk to you again next year!
